Students from the Conway area came to the Faulkner County Library for their very own Art exhibit on April 9th. Students from all different ages showed off their talented works of art with their friends and family by their side.

Faulkner County Library held an art exhibit for middle school-aged students that welcomed students and families alike from all over Conway.

Art projects ranging from paintings to felt sculptures, was a way to shine light on all the talented children with their loved ones and library patrons.

Katie Scott, a youth librarian for the Faulkner County Library, said, “It’s so cool to hold events like this, especially this one that brings in so many people from the community that might never interact with each other.”

The event also saw volunteer members coming together to help the event.

One volunteer, Zoey Dunkin, said: “It’s really inspiring seeing what all these people love to do and how other people can do anything like this.”

One of the young artists, Hannah, is a 6th grader who took 2 weeks to complete her stunning flower painting. “It took me a long time. I had to figure out how many colors I have to use, and what kind of blue, and the different shades.”

Hannah bashfully expressed the pride she felt for her work being displayed.

Emberly Edwards, another talented student, is in her 7th grade year and crafted a beautiful collage with a ladybug as her center.

The project took her two weeks. “I didn’t really have an idea at first, but then I saw some inspo pictures, and then it just kinda came to me.”

Edwards said that the hardest part of the entire project was sketching, “ I’m not good at sketching, so that was pretty hard. After that, though, it got pretty easy.”

When asked about how it felt to have her hard work displayed, Edwards said, “ It’s underwhelming to be honest.”

Conway Public School Principal, KàRon Branch, was also in attendance in the effort to cheer her students on. When asked about seeing her very own students’ art be displayed publicly, Brach said: “It’s amazing, they’re so talented, which I already knew, but showcasing their talent before the public is courageous for their age”.

Branch went on to describe the weeks leading up to the art show, saying “They’re [the students] very meticulous about making sure that it’s perfect. Making sure that they’re following the guidelines of what their instructor asked them to do. A lot of hours go into making sure the finished product is how they want it to be.”

The art exhibition was a success and a wonderful way to display younger artists in ways that aren’t common for their age range.

Many students attended with their family and friends, bringing even more faces to mingle with.

Faulkner County Library has many events left this month and more in the coming months so check out their website  to stay up to date and upcoming events.
