Recipe for a chill finals week.
Finals week comes in hot with stress, but it doesn’t have to take you out. With the right mix of habits, you can stay calm, focused and maybe even enjoy productivity.
Essential Ingredients:
- Sleep
- Fuel
- Movement
The first and most essential ingredient to a successful finals recipe: sleep. The all‑nighter might sound heroic, but it’s really just a fast track to brain fog. Your brain’s neurons deserve better. Get a good night’s sleep and wake up early if you need extra study time. Have trust in yourself; you will thank past‑you for not being a gremlin.
While it’s easy to forget to take care of yourself when you’re on your grind, make sure to eat something, and if you have enough dining dollars left in your account, make sure it hits all the food groups.
Drink water like it’s your part‑time job. If you’re dehydrated and hungry, your brain is too, and it will absolutely protest during your exams.
Next, move your body. Take a walk, stretch, do a five‑minute dance break, whatever gets the stress off your shoulders. Your brain works better when your body isn’t locked in study‑statue mode.
Add 3 cups of study session chunks into a bowl and mix in a large heaping of giving yourself grace: Try breaking your study sessions into chunks. Cramming for five hours straight is basically torture. Study for 45 minutes, take a 10‑minute break, repeat. It keeps your brain fresh and your sanity intact.
Give yourself grace because although finals are important, they’re not the entire plot of your life. Top your recipe off with by doing your best, taking a deep breath and remember that one week doesn’t define your whole semester of hard work.
