UCA Bears’ track and field topped the leaderboards throughout various categories at the Little Rock Invitational April 17 and 18.
The weekend invitational began on Friday with the hammerthrow.
Junior Joia Perry topped the women’s charts with a 61.77m throw – which she achieved on her second attempt.
Perry also threw 57.09m and 58.45m.
Senior Joy Nance finished in second place with a 50.98m throw and senior Serena Degollado came up third with a 49.64m throw – completing the victorious triumvirate for the Bears.
On the men’s side, senior Jaden Schneeberger finished second with a 61.92m throw.
Fellow senior Treavor Green finished third with a 59.25m throw.
Replacing hammers with javelins, the men’s side finished first with sophomore Jeff King’s 59.56m throw. Junior Levi Dugger finished third with a 57.20m throw.
The women’s side had less luck with the javelin, as the highest finish was sophomore Sadie Hamby in third with a 37.91m throw.
Staying with the women’s team, senior Maygan Jarvis finished fourth in pole vault, with the 3.10m bar being her highest clearance.
Pole vault proved better for the men, as sophomore Sloan Jones finished first with a 4.45m clearance, while freshman Lance McNew finished second at 4.30m and sophomore Tomas Farr third at 4.15m.
Central Arkansas had just one placement in the triple jump – senior Savannah Carrigan with an 11.05m jump that placed her fifth.
In the women’s 400m hurdles, senior Symone Quiles finished fifth with a time of 1:04.16. Junior Karlie Wooten finished ninth and sophomore Shamiya Holt finished 12th.
The Bears would come out on top on the men’s side, as junior Byron Holt finished first with a time of 55.63, just edging out UA Rich Mountain freshman Khobee Osborne’s time of 55.76.
Sophomore Christian Brown finished fourth at 57.67 seconds.
In the women’s 200m dash, sophomore Kendra Tyus finished fifth, while fellow sophomore Danyelle Poole finished right behind her at sixth.
Sophomore Baleigh Cashion finished 12th.
On the men’s side, freshman Clifton McBride finished third with a time of 21.03 and junior Keaton Hansard finished fifth with a time of 21.33.
After a successful Friday, UCA continued its success on Saturday – beginning with the men’s long jump.
Sophomore Maverick Walker topped the leaderboard with a 7.40m jump, while freshman Nathan Uptagraff finished eighth and Sloan Jones finished ninth.
The women’s team proved even more successful, as the Bears made up four of the top five finishes, including the top three.
Senior Karis Martin finished first with a jump of 5.90m, while sophomore Keirstin Moore finished second and junior Madisyn Crandall finished third. Senior Savannah Carrigan finished fifth with a 5.36m jump.
Central Arkansas dominated the men’s discus, as they claimed six of the top 10 spots – including first place by freshman Michael Savariau with a 48.06m throw.
Fellow freshman Eli Jones finished second and senior Jaden Schneeberger finished third.
In the women’s discus, sophomore Sadie Hamby finished second with a throw of 35.89m.
Staying on the women’s side, junior Davin James placed second in long jump at 1.60m.
Schneeberger claimed another top spot in shotput, with a 18.13m hurl as Bears Jones and sophomore Devyn Steingisser finished second and third.
Junior Kayli Myers finished first in the 5000 meter dash with a time of 18:53.32.
The women’s team finished second in the 100m relay and junior Raghan Allen claimed the top spot in the 100m dash.
With a plethora of top finishes, UCA’s track team prepares for two more trips – the John McDonnell Invitational in Fayetteville on April 23 and the Music City Invitational in Nashville on May 1.
