SGA unanimously approved a motion to allocate $1,750 to buy t-shirts for the Bear Den’s celebration of Sugar and Bruce’s birthday at its Nov. 25 meeting.
Senator J.P. Henderson, who motioned for the funding, said, “The mascots get birthdays every year, just like the rest of us, and all this money goes towards the T-shirts since we run out very quickly.”
Executive President Phoenix Vu motioned SGA to rename the Dave Dennis Diplomat Award the Adam Rose Ambassador Award.
Rose worked as an adviser for SGA for the past four years and will leave UCA at the end of the fall semester.
Vu said, “Mr. Rose has been instrumental in the success of SGA. He helps centers find direction through intense debate and provides thoughtful insights on SAFA events, outreach, and other projects.
“Mr. Rose dedicates countless hours, often beyond regular business hours, to serving the students of UCA. As the Associate General Counsel compliance officer, he consistently goes above and beyond to assist members of SGA,” he said.
SGA voted unanimously to rename the Dave Dennis Diplomat Award to the Adam Rose Ambassador Award.
Rebecca Thomas from the Relay for Life organization presented the organization’s achievements and financial fundraisers from the past year, highlighting the $21,000 raised by the club last year. The club requested SGA provide a budget of $16,668 to help cover the club’s expenditures.
Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity President Richard Ware and Secretary Jalen Hodo proposed a $1,250 budget for their Old Gold and Black Pageant to help the club pay for lamps, binders, dividers, masks, mirrors and clothes racks.
This will help the fraternity cover the total costs and provide equipment that it can use for future events.
