Miley Cyrus released her highly anticipated eighth studio album, “Endless Summer Vacation,” after success on the Billboard charts with her single “Flowers.”
On March 10, Cyrus released the nearly forty-minute album with thirteen songs after promoting the album as a “Post-Liam” story.
The album is another example of how Miley continues to change, not only vocally but also with her sound.
Her last album, “Plastic Hearts,” showed the world the rock side of Cyrus, however, she takes her new album to the dance-pop genre.
Cyrus described this album as “a true Miley sound,” with her main inspiration being what she wants the audience to think of when they describe the music she makes.
Cyrus split the album into two parts, the first of which is the a.m. side, the beginning of the album where everything is more carefree and happy.
The second part of the album, the p.m. side, is dark, scary, and just like any other current Miley album — sexy.
The album deals with themes of being scared to let go, but also wondering if letting go would be the better option, which is probably based on Liam Hemsworth during their 2019 divorce.
Cyrus said she made this album during her healing process of everything that she has been dealing with for the past couple of years.
This album is Cyrus’ most polished album. Her vocals are the best she has ever sounded on a record and you can tell how much of her soul she put into it.
She showcases her talents vocally, especially because of the lack of features.
There are only two features on the album, Sia and Brandi Carlile, and these features are nothing more than Sia singing a melody in the background and Carlile singing the same words as Miley, making her the only star of the album.
Miley also worked with Mike WiLL Made-It on the song “Violet Chemistry,” teasing the two of them in the studio months earlier.
The pair have worked on multiple songs together, such as “23” and even her “Bangerz” album.
So many fans set a high precedent for the album, which was met.
The album starts with her hit “Flowers,” and also ends with the demo version of the song.
In the Disney+ “Endless Summer Vacation” special, Miley speaks on how she wanted people to listen more to the lyrics than the actual sound of the song,
The demo version of Flowers is just Miley singing the regular version of the song with nothing but a piano in the background. This gives the listener the opportunity to listen to what Miley is saying and not be so focused on the upbeat sound.
Given that most songs are processed and fine-tuned, it’s nice to hear her raw vocals.
After eight studio albums and 17 years of music production, this is one of if not her most polished and well-rounded albums.
For anyone looking for an album to be the background of their summer, this is the one.
You can listen to the album on all streaming platforms and can watch Miley’s first live performances of the album on her Disney+ special, “Endless Summer Vacation | Backyard Sessions.”
