After months of waiting for a release date to be announced and multiple date changes, Drake finally put out his highly anticipated album “For All The Dogs” on Oct. 6.
Many fans thought that the album would be released at midnight, but he delayed the release six hours last-minute.
Drake dropped the album at 6 a.m. on “The Sound 42” radio station on Sirius XM.
The album already had a No. 1 single, “Slime You Out” featuring SZA, that was released Sept. 15 as a lead-up to the album release.
Some fans were satisfied with the 23 songs on the album, but many were not and took to social media to express their opinions.
Some expected to strictly hear rap songs, but Drake interweaves hip-hop and R&B on tracks with featured artists like SZA, J. Cole, 21 Savage and many more.
Drake has always expressed himself as an artist who loves to experiment with many genres of music and is not afraid to try new things; that is one of the main reasons why Drake is universally known around the world.
Listening to this album and have probably already listened to it way too many times. It is very similar to Drake’s 2021 “Certified Lover Boy” album.
Both of these albums have more R&B songs with some Hip-Hop songs. Most of his albums have always been like this throughout his career.
There have already been controversies surrounding the album’s release.
Actress Halle Berry came out to say she did not give Drake permission to use the photo of her getting slimed at the 2012 Kids Choice Awards for the single “Slime You Out.”
This pop culture moment gave the album more publicity and made fans even more eager to hear the album in full.
Some critics believe Drake, aged 36, is now too old to be making music that still sounds the same as when he was 26.
Drake maintains good creative relationships with some new artists such as Lil Yachty, Sexxy Redd and 21 Savage, and it keeps his songs in the charts every year.
Keeping the most popular artists right now in the industry on his singles and albums is a genius idea because it cross-pollinates audiences and gives artists opportunities to grow more in the industry.
The It’s All A Blur Tour recently ended in Columbus, Ohio, on Oct. 9 just a few days after the album was released on Oct. 6.
The tour was used as a promotional tool for the 2021 album “Her Loss” and this year’s album, “For All The Dogs.”
On “The Sound 42” on Sirius XM, Drake hinted that this might be his last album for quite some time as he turns his attention to his health and focuses on his family.
Drake has such a large body of music that any more music he makes won’t elevate his superstardom anymore than it already is.
“For All The Dogs” is now available on all streaming platforms.
