The online shooter game “Fortnite” carried out an exhilarating new season entitled “Last Resort,” introducing vampires, heists and a luxurious map makeover.
Chapter four Season four went live on Aug. 25 and replaced the last season, “Wilds,” a jungle and ancient ruins-themed extravaganza.
While Fortnite kept plenty of elements from the last season, players can now sink their teeth into some fresh augments, weapons and, weirdly enough, forecast towers.
Man-bunned and brooding vampire villain Kado Thorne has taken over the island and planted his heavily guarded mansions — Eclipsed Estate, Sanguine Suites and Relentless Retreat — to display his opulence.
These brand-new locations, while overwhelming, offer a rewarding experience for users.
Players must navigate armed guards, tracking cameras and laser grids to sneak into Thorne’s properties successfully.
This is where the exciting heist occurs: under Thorne’s real estate, in a top-secret room with legendary chests and glass cases holding the vampire boss’ super rare weapons.
There, players can loot mythic weapons, such as Midas’ Drum Gun, TNTina’s Ka-Boom Bow and Kit’s Shockwave Launcher — all returning weapons, a lovely dose of nostalgia for old players.
Adding a heist worth risking is clever, although occasionally a headache.
Spy techno music plays, alarms sound and pesky bots with poor aim swarm you.
In the end, the challenge is worth it; a heist done right is an immediate advantage, and the experience of a well-executed break-in with a squad is a bonding experience like no other.
No season is itself without a load of new weapons, and “Last Resort” doesn’t disappoint.
The Infiltrator Pump Shotgun, Scoped Burst SMG and Twin Mag Assault Rifle are just a few examples of what weapons Fortnite has in store this season.
The Burst SMG is epic for shredding through buildings, and the Twin Mag Assault Rifle is the MK-Seven Assault Rifle’s cooler cousin.
There are also a handful of new cutting-edge augments, which are mini-rewards players receive for surviving to enhance gameplay.
Fast Fisher enables players to swim faster and instantly loot fishing spots as they swim through them, and First Shotgun grants shotguns more damage on the first shot.
The augments aren’t necessarily special, so hopefully, more will be added in the next chapter.
Finally, the season’s battle pass makes a range of contemporary and creative characters available to unlock.
Wear outfits like “Star Wars” Ahsoka Tano or TikTok’s Khaby Lame as you trek through lavishly designed buildings.
Fortnite has its own made-up characters if these two aren’t your style.
There’s Piper Pace, a pizza deliverer and getaway driver, and Fish Thicc, a muscular goldfish.
The new Fortnite season is bold and a blast from the past because of its reminiscence of fan-favorite Chapter two Season two, “Top Secret.”
The game indubitably took inspiration from “Top Secret”’s auto turrets and secret cameras but also welcomed new gadgets like forecast towers and the Rocket Ram.
Using an access card, players can use forecast towers to see the future of the storm circle — the dangerous area that periodically envelops the map.
The Rocket Ram gives players a fiery launch into the air that can pierce the ground upon landing.
These are both fabulous modern additions to the game’s burglary-esque atmosphere.
As fall and winter approaches, new chapters will unfold, and more rarities and weapons will rise in what may become Fortnite’s most iconic season.
Fortnite is available to download and play for free on the Epic Games Store.
