Harris, who lives in south Arkansas, gained national recognition with the Sookie Stackhouse series of books. The books have been published internationally and the HBO series based on the books begins its third season this year.
The books are about a telepathic barmaid who befriends vampires and werewolves in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps. Eventually, she falls in love with one of the vampires. The first book in the series, Dead Until Dark, won the prestigious Anthony Award for best paperback mystery of 2001.
Harris has written other successful books series. Her first was a series called Real Murders about a Georgia librarian. She followed that with the Lily Bard series set in Shakespeare, Ark.
Harris will give a lecture at 7:30 p.m., April 1, then sign copies of her books.
