Police arrest student for drunk driving, refusal of chemical test
Student Liyas Dyssengaliyev, 22, was arrested April 18 for driving while intoxicated, refusing to submit to a chemical test and for careless driving.
Dyssengaliyev was arrested after recklessly backing out of a parking spot in Stadium Park. An officer watched Dyssengaliyev almost back into a dumpster and then accelerate to the front of the driveway, slam on his breaks and then make a right turn onto Bruce Street. Dyssengaliyev then sped up and slammed on his brakes again, causing the officer to pull him over.
The officer reported that he could faintly smell alcohol as he walked up to Dyssengaliyev’s car, however, he denied drinking.
The officer performed an HGN test and said that Dyssengaliyev showed all six signs of intoxication.
After refusing to take other tests and failing a field sobriety test, Dyssengaliyev was placed under arrest.
At the station, Dyssengaliyev refused to take a chemical test and was then sent to Faulkner County Detention Center for incarceration.
