Many Christians in 2026 will come out and say that they still support the Trump administration. This may not come as a shock to some of you, but is everything going on in the country really Christlike? Would Jesus approve?
Before we answer this question, we would have to look at the facts that back up this claim.
The first point that pops into mind when thinking about why Jesus would not approve of Trump is the old term in the Bible, “love thy neighbor.”
Being downright hateful to your political opponents, reporters, undocumented immigrants and even some American citizens is not exactly loving your neighbor.
For example, all of the times Trump called his political opponents hateful names.
In 2023, he called Joe Biden a “dumb son of a bitch” at one of his rallies in Pennsylvania.
Jesus would definitely not approve of that.
Also, he shows zero remorse for the families that he is ripping apart day after day.
If Jesus were alive today, I have no doubt that Trump would deport him, because he was an immigrant.
Not to mention, the way Trump treats the poor is cruel by going and giving his rich friends a massive tax cut in his “Big Beautiful Bill” that he was so proud of.
According to an article by americanprogress.org, the bill cuts taxes for the richest 10 percent of Americans by more than $14,700 per year per household, and also cuts taxes for the richest 1% of Americans by more than $50,000 per year.
In the New International Version, Proverbs 19:17 states: “whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.”
Trump does the exact opposite of that.
Not to mention, the way Trump is treating the Epstein situation is extremely alarming.
The President said to the press that Americans “should move on from Epstein.”
He should tell that to the victims and their families, who will forever be traumatized from what they experienced on that island.
And after all of that, according to a post-election survey by prri.org, 85% of white Christians voted for Trump.
These so-called “Christians” should start being more like the person that they worship and praise.
But instead, a lot of them seem to now worship and praise our current president.
And in recent news, the war in Iran.
Didn’t the President say “no new wars?”
And then, not even one year later, he decides to go and bomb Iran in the middle of the night with no warning whatsoever.
There are two parts of this that are wrong when it comes to being a good Christian.
Firstly, he is committing war crimes. That should speak for itself.
The elementary school that was bombed in Iran, which may or may not have been an American strike.
Even if it wasn’t, it wouldn’t have happened if Trump didn’t stir the pot.
That being said, here is another Bible verse:
Exodus 20:13 states: “You shall not murder.”
At least 175 people died in that strike on the elementary school in Minab, many of whom were children.
So all in all, Christians should not support a candidate who stirs up violence and hatred. I think that is pretty simple.
