Over the past five years the Conway Police Department has seen a decrease in property crimes.
Property crimes include theft or destruction of property without using direct force against a victim according to the FBI. This includes but is not limited to burglary, motor vehicle theft and arson.
In 2020 there were 1,895 property crimes reported in Conway and that number steadily decreased – 1,844 to 1,759 to 1,633 to 1,386 – until it reached 1,272 in 2025.
In the 2025 annual report it said that burglaries decreased by 14% with a total of 103, motor vehicle thefts decreased by 1% with a total of 80 and thefts decreased by 8% with 1,084. However, arson increased by 67%. There were three arson cases in 2024 and five in 2025.
While these numbers are decreasing the violent crimes that are reported in Conway have hovered around the same number from the 2020 to 2025 reports. The number of violent crimes has been between 270 and 299 over the course of these five years, however 270 – the lowest amount recorded – was from the 2025 report after 293 in the 2024 report.
In the 2025 annual report it was stated that murders increased by 50% with 3 reported, rapes increased by 8% but there was a 16% decrease in robberies and a 9% decrease in aggravated assault with 21 and 218 respectively.
The total number of violent crimes in 2020 was 298; there was almost a 9.4% decrease in violent crimes between 2020 and 2025, though it was not a steady decrease as mentioned previously.
The amount of sworn officers over the past five years has also increased, though only slightly. In 2020 there were 127 sworn officers, but 21 officers departed leaving 106 in the department. In 2021 there were, again, 127 sworn officers and 17 officers departed leaving 110 sworn officers in the department. In 2025 there were 132 sworn officers but 18 left leaving the department with 114 sworn officers.
