On Aug. 24, UCAPD was working at a Delta Zeta sorority party on 1020 Front Street when Mary Dunlap, Delta Zeta member, spoke to nonstudent Jonahan Jaros, 19, and asked him to leave the party.
Jaros was intoxicated and attempted to smoke a cigarette inside the residence.
Jaros exited the residence and began trying to smoke a cigarette for the second time.
He failed to make any effort to leave, even after being asked to.
An officer approached Jaros and he told her that he was trying to smoke a cigarette and then reenter the building.
The officer proceeded to tell him that he wasn’t allowed back inside and that he needed to find a sober driver to take him off the premises.
Jaros became hostile with the officer, arguing, cussing and saying he was not a criminal.
UCAPD told Jaros they were arresting him for public intoxication and asked him to put his hands behind his back when he began begging them not to bring him to jail.
When prompted to put his hands behind his back again, he continued to resist.
The officer pushed Jaros against a concrete pole and handcuffed him.
Jaros told the officer he was on probation and couldn’t get into any more trouble.
He told UCAPD he had only had a few beers and a few shots of Captain Morgan and continued to beg them not to take him to jail.
Jaros was taken to the Faulkner County Detention Center for processing, where they found he had a UCA ID belonging to Nicholas Malone.
