At the Ying Yang Twins concert Aug. 22 in the Farris Center UCAPD officer observed a female, later identified as student Morgan Gilley, 19, stumbling towards the sinks of the women’s restrooms.
Gilley appeared upset and an officer introduced himself and asked her if she was okay. Gilley replied, “What do you want?” Gilley reaked of alcohol.
When the officer asked Gilley to step outside the restroom she refused. Another student overheard Gilley and the officer’s conversation and offered to escort Gilley out of the restroom.
The officer waited outside the restroom while the student escorted Gilley into the hallway.
The officer repeatedly asked Gilley what her name was. When asked if she had consumed any alcohol that evening, Gilley said she had, but could not or would not tell the officer what it was.
Gilley swayed back and forth and alternated between mumbling and shouting loudly when speaking to the officer. She told him “You’re not much of a fucking officer” and said she did not know where she was.
Gilley was placed under arrest and escorted to another officer’s vehicle for detainment. She continued to repeat the word “fuck.”
When Gilley yelled at another officer, she was told that she would be charged with disorderly conduct, to which she yelled, “You’re dis-fucking-orderly.”
Gilley was issued a citation for public intoxication and disorderly conduct and told an officer to “fuck off.”
After she was transported to a local unit for processing, she was placed in a cell and began kicking the door and hitting the window.
She said “fuck you” to the officer and the detention staff at the unit. The staff and the officer agreed to place her in a restraint chair if she didn’t calm down.
A staff member was able to calm her downbut Gilley refused to go in the cell she was moved to.
When a staff member told her she had to go inside or they would physically put her in, she reluctantly entered the cell.
