Lights, glamour, and beautiful women will grace the Ida Waldran Auditorium Wednesday evening as the Beta Delta chapter of Omega Psi Phi hosts its Miss Omega Psi Phi Pageant.
The pageant was created to uplift collegiate African-Americans by giving them the opportunity to showcase their attributes, talents and beauty in front of an audience of their peers.
Miss Omega must be able to represent the fraternity in a positive manner and be willing to participate and represent the chapter in UCA’s Miss Essence Contest, as well as assist in hosting Beta Delta’s Women of Integrity program.
The theme “Heaven in Hollywood” for the pageant will display the personalities of these contestants, while bringing live entertainment to the public.
“My experience was amazing & it gave me a chance to meet so many people and have opportunities that I otherwise would not have had,” Nelicia Brown, the 2013 Miss Omega Psi Phi winner said.
Brown will give her farewell speech as she passes the mantle on to the new Miss Omega Psi Phi tomorrow.
Comedian and actor Joe Torry will be the host for the evening. Torry rose to stardom in the early 1990’s, becoming a legend amongst great African American comedians, alongside Martin Lawrence, Chris Tucker, and the late Bernie Mac. He has starred in movies such as Poetic Justice, (co-starring with Janet Jackson and the late Tupac Shakur,) Sprung, and making television appearances on popular shows such as ER and NYPD Blues.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and price of admission will be $3. Donations are welcome. For more information about the Beta Delta chapter click here.
