Coffee is an essential part of most students’ lives, so many will be glad to know a new coffee location recently opened in Conway. But, Demure Coffee java joint isn’t your average coffee shop.
Demure Coffee is a family-owned coffee shop that runs out of an aesthetically pleasing, black camper located in the gravel lot at 2600 Dave Ward Dr. The shop opened up earlier this month and is currently operating under their “soft opening” hours: Tuesday-Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Demure will have a grand opening on Saturday, Mar. 26.
“There are huge plans for our grand opening. We will be throwing a Demure spring market on the 26th. We will have over 15 local vendors set up around our camper for the Community of Conway,” Christa Clifton said.
The hours after the grand opening will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
JT and Christa Clifton have been in the coffee industry for several years, and their dream of starting their own coffee business recently became a reality.
“What inspired us to open up Demure Coffee was us wanting to build a family business while crafting what we love in the process. It’s something we have been wanting to do for years, but we had to be patient and wait for the right time financially, and we have been very blessed,” Christa said.
Demure sells locally-roasted coffee from Fidel & Co. in Little Rock, where JT used to work. Fidel is from El Salvador and has a direct connection to a childhood friend who is a coffee farmer. JT said Fidel and his friend are both perfectionists at their crafts.
The coffee shop also has plans to provide wedding and event services in the future.
“We will be open… pretty soon, and when we have an event, we will post on our social media that we will be closed for such event,” Clifton said.
The Cliftons chose the name Demure for its elegance and how pleasant it was to say and see.
“We chose Demure because the meaning behind it means reserved or modest. We feel like this reflects our approach to brewing and serving your coffee. We love what we do and let the coffee have a voice of its own,” Christa said.
Demure recommends all of their specials to their first-time customers, but one drink that has been a hit since they have opened is their drink called “The Rowan,” named after the Cliftons’ son.
“It is based off of his favorite snack Honey Nut Cheerios. It’s brown sugar, honey, cinnamon and hazelnut,” Christa said.
The future plans for Demure are to operate in their camper location for a year and then open a brick-and-mortar location in Conway.
The Cliftons are passionate about coffee and providing a new experience for local coffee lovers like themselves. To follow their journey with Demure and to see updates on hours and events, check out their Instagram page @demurecoffee.
With the weather warming up, it is the perfect time to get out and support this new local business by getting some coffee from the Demure Coffee camper.
