“Invincible” continues to be one of the most intense and exciting animated shows in 2025.
The last episode of season three came out on Thursday, March 13 and it did not disappoint.
Mark Grayson (Steven Yeun) has to face more challenges and vicious enemies all while trying to manage his personal relationships and family life.
The show is based off of the “Invincible” comic series written by Robert Kirkman and illustrated by Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley.
The most exciting part of this season was during the last episode, “I Thought You’d Never Shut Up,” where Mark has to face his most vicious enemy yet, Conquest (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).
During this episode, the two characters brawl in a very gruesome and bloody fight, and destroy entire cities during the fight as well.
As Mark’s younger half brother, Oliver (Lincoln Bodin), joins the fight, Conquest attacks him purposefully in order to break Mark mentally, so that he will put up more of a fight. Atom Eve (Gillian Jacobs), Mark’s girlfriend, also joins the fight after briefly waking from a coma.
The chaos and brutality in this fight definitely speaks to what the show is used to and brings back more of the intensity that the show had at the end of season one during Mark’s fight with his father Omni-man (J.K. Simmons).
The show also does a great job at showing the duality of superheroes; being that one side is saving the day and beating the bad guy, whereas the other side is all of the damage that is caused to cities, innocent citizens and the effects of the hero’s loved ones.
This season also did a great job of exploring more of Mark’s character development. Mark has to deal with the weight of his past actions while also trying to help raise his half-brother to not make the same mistakes. On top of this, Mark then has to deal with the expectations and sacrifices that come with being the world’s strongest hero at such a young age.
Not only does this season delve more into Mark’s character development, but also other characters such as Omni-man and Atom Eve. Omni-man is in a Viltrumite prison where he is sentenced to be executed by two Viltrumite executioners. During his wait, he is reacquainted with Allen the Alien (Seth Rogen), who needs his help to stop the Viltrum empire from ruling the galaxy.
Reflecting on the mistakes that Omni-man made on Earth, he is starting to better understand his feelings. The show does a good job of capturing the struggle that Omni-man faces with dealing with his guilt of what happened in season one and how he misses his family.
After receiving 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, many fans and critics say that they enjoy this new season and cannot wait for season four in 2026.
