1. City Living
The first pack you need in your collection to spice up your gameplay would be “City Living.” As the third expansion in the series, “City Living” offers a new, larger world with new lot types like karaoke and food stands. The pack also allows for three new drastically different careers: critic, social media and politician. Each of these careers comes with two branches to further said careers. When it comes to items, the pack left no room for criticism. The different haircuts, styles, outfits, and more offered a new look for anyone, making it one of the more versatile packs.
2. Get Famous
The “Get Famous” expansion pack may seem small, but it’s mighty in content. This sixth expansion opens to a small world that many criticized on its debut, but the jobs and items make up for it. All the Sim attire and furniture leans into the glitz and glamour of it all, but don’t worry, there are still items and designs to build up the struggling artist story. Career-wise, you only get the actor career, but drama club is added to the game for your children Sims. Finally, new activities were added like blind dates, sharing house keys and reputation status.
3. For Rent
“For Rent” is a controversial pick because many think it should have been included with “City Living,” but that wouldn’t make sense because the only thing the two share is the ability to live in a rented environment. “For Rent” is one of the better worlds, really creating a sense of community for your Sims that has been lacking. The pack takes inspiration from Southeast Asian culture. This is reflected in the create-a-Sim and designing aspect perfectly. The new gameplay is good for anyone craving a deeper story. The new ability to break into apartments and find secrets is fun for any nosy Sim and player alike.
4. Growing Together
“Growing Together” is an expansion that, once you have it, you’ll wonder how you played without it. While the world itself is considered average, it introduced recreational centers, which many simmers have creatively incorporated into their gameplay. The clothing selection was well-received but leans towards a single style. However, the pack stands out by adding new skin details like birthmarks and realistic freckles. The most exciting addition is the new family dynamics system, allowing players to set or develop relationships that impact interactions. With baby shower events and meaningful connections, this pack is a must-have for those who love family-oriented storytelling.
5. Cottage Living
“Cottage Living” ends our list strong. With its immense but stunning world, there is lots to do. This pack introduces many animals like chickens, cows, birds and rabbits. The create-a-Sim brings a soft and folksy aesthetic that you can’t help but gawk at for its beauty. The house design brings you right back to your grandma’s house in the best way possible. This expansion pack also adds a new cross-stitching skill. “Cottage Living” came with a hefty list of activities for your Sims, like running errands for the town, befriending animals, ordering groceries, canning and having picnics. With this pack, it’s hard to get bored.
