“Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” is a highly anticipated album by Swifties all around the world. Speculation about the release of this album has been happening since Taylor Swift’s release of her first re-record, “Fearless (Taylor’s Version).”
Swift began re-releasing her albums because the copyright to all of her albums with her original recording studio, Big Machine Records, had been sold. She is essentially re-recording her albums to claim her own music as hers. Swift left Big Machine Records after the release of “Reputation.” She has re-recorded all of her albums with the record label except for reputation and her debut album, “Taylor Swift.”
The original “Reputation,” was released November 10, 2017 and fans fell in love with the newfound rage within the tracks. “Reputation” is my favorite album that Swift has released and I am patiently waiting for her re-release, which will include new songs known as “From the Vault” tracks.
The album was created as a comeback to Kanye West after interrupted Swift during her acceptance speech at the 2009 Video Music Awards for winning Best Female Video for her song “You Belong With Me.”
West took the microphone from Swift and said, “I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time.”
Following this incident, Swift released her album “1989” in 2014 and the two seemed to be on good terms until West released his song “Famous”, in 2016, and dropped the line, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous.”
After this, Swift seemingly went into hiding for a little over three years. She was perfecting her album and giving the people what they wanted.
On Aug. 25, 2017, Swift released her single, “Look What You Made Me Do.”
I believe this song was sent as a warning of what was to come. A warning that she had been working in secret and nothing was going to stop her from doing what she loves. When she resurfaced with a brand new album entitled, “Reputation,” Swifties lost their minds.
Since its release, Taylor Swift fans have been waiting for her re-release featuring her new songs. She is waiting for the right moment.
Kanye West recently released his song “Carnival” from his album “VULTURES 1,” in which he name-dropped Swift. I think this is just fueling her fire.
Fans have speculated that Swift would’ve released “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” during her European leg of the Eras Tour, but sadly she did not.
Fans also speculated that she would release the album during the 2024 Video Music Awards because it was two days before the anniversary of when West interrupted her at the 2009 awards, but again, she did not.
I watched almost every livestream of the European leg of the tour in hopes that she would release the album, but I think that she will release “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)” on the 7th anniversary of the release of the original album.
Now, there is some speculation that Swift will re-record her debut album first and release it to the public, but Swift is not one to go unnoticed.
She leaves signs to let us know what she’s up to. There is no specific indication of when Swift will release the album, but when she does, it will be legendary.
