Froot Loops
Froot Loops reign supreme for obvious reasons. They’re fun to look at and to eat, even without milk. I vividly remember taking these in a plastic sandwich bag to school often, and they were always gone by the end of the day. It was a top-tier snack that traveled with me no matter the destination. Froot Loops also have one of the best mascots. Toucan Sam is an icon and was the star of some of the most memorable commercials I would see on a Saturday morning while watching cartoons.

Frosted Flakes
Story continues below advertisement
Frosted Flakes take the runner-up spot. As someone who doesn’t like regular cornflakes, this was the next best thing in the pantry. Covering something in sugar always makes it better, especially when it’s cereal. Frosted Flakes have mastered the ratio of tooth-decaying coating to cornflake. Tony the Tiger’s existence is something to speak for too. Tony may have looked creepy and poorly edited in commercials, but he made up for it when he said “They’re Gr-r-reat” at the end of each one.

Cocoa Rice Krispies
Cocoa Krispies deserve to be on this list, though I’ve only had them on rare occasions. When I was younger, I would go on camping trips with my family and we would buy the tiny multi-pack boxes of cereal for breakfast. In the pack, there were two boxes of Cocoa Krispies. I had to fight for my box because these were always the first ones to go no matter the circumstances. Call me crazy but when they got mushy, they were in their best form. I liked them fresh, too. I’m not a monster.

Honey Smacks
Honey Smacks were also in the pack of tiny cereal boxes. These were probably the second to go from the box because they were so sugary. I wouldn’t dare ask my parents for a full box of these at the grocery store, but I loved asking them for a tiny box on occasion. Kelloggs recalled this cereal in several states for salmonella exposure in 2018, but my love for them allows me to look past that and accept them as one of the greatest.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch
I’ve never met a person who has said anything negative about Cinnamon Toast Crunch, but there’s a couple of flaws with them. The main problem is how messy they are. As an avid dry cereal consumer, I’ve found these to be the most challenging to eat. The cinnamon gets everywhere but they taste wonderful, and that’s why it’s on this list. This cereal was the best snack in elementary school. If you had Cinnamon Toast Crunch, you were automatically a cool kid, and people wanted to sit with you at lunch.
