Netflix’s “Selling Sunset” has graced viewers with yet another season filled with boobs, booze and bad behavior; however, the season lacks any substance other than catfights and drama.
Season seven, which premiered Nov. 3, showcased the same cast and crew from season six, with new storylines emerging by the minute.
Throughout 11 episodes, there was little real estate mentioned, and this season focused more on the interpersonal relationships in the Oppenheim office.
After last season’s quarrels between Chrishell Stause and Nicole Young, the pair is still squabbling after Young claimed Stause took credit for her work, to which Stause responded by claiming Young was on illegal substances.
Their drama ensues throughout the entire season, with a newfound dispute between Stause and Amanza Smith after a work dinner gone wrong.
Oppenheim Group agents Bre Tiesi and Chelsea Lazkani are still floundering amid the relationship between Tiesi and partner Nick Cannon.
After Tiesi and Cannon had a child together in 2021, co-worker Lazkani had strong opinions on how the pair parented and the basis of their fairly open relationship.
Viewers are also introduced to heartbreaking moments between Mary Fitzgerald Bonnet and her husband Romain Bonnet, as their unexpected miscarriage this season.
While watching the drama play out was entertaining, the season lacked talk of million-dollar homes.
There were trips to Cabo, expensive parties laced with couture gowns, and plenty of backstabbing plots — yet the Oppenheim group sold little homes this season.
Alongside their home-buying drought, the season showcased the effect of the new purchasing law in California, where houses over a certain price point are now being taxed at higher percents; subsequently, when this was filmed, that law wasn’t in effect yet, but they spent a lot of time explaining the cause of their buying drought was because of the new law.
Another element of season seven was the drama that kept getting rehashed.
Some of the group has lost their relevance, and they made the show dull with their constant fighting about the same catty argument that took place seasons ago.
It should not take two seasons for two real estate agents to finally be able to not accuse another of being a social climber or a drug addict. It was equivalent to a petty high school drama, but editing tricks like cutting to other agents made it seem like a bigger deal than it was.
The biggest flop of the season — undoubtedly — was the total write-off of Heather and Tarek El Moussa.
While the season was being filmed, the El Moussas had newly welcomed a baby boy, which was highlighted with a quick cameo early on in the seasons, but they never included her beyond that.
It is plausible that she had that much maternity leave, but how could they not include her in an interview — she’s by far the cutest agent.
Although the seventh season has several faults, it still caught my attention enough to binge-watch for an embarrassing amount of time.
The new drama was fairly entertaining and fulfilling, sparking new storylines that might make me tune in for next season. The show wasn’t too terrible.
Hopefully, next season includes dropped gossip, the El Moussas and more real estate.
You can now watch season seven of “Selling Sunset” on Netflix, with a new episode dropping 8 p.m. on Nov. 15.
