One of Conway’s newest additions to the downtown area is Buff City Soap, a health and beauty shop that specializes in handcrafted soaps and skincare products.

Buff City Soap’s Conway location opened last year on October 29. According to their website, all of their products are plant-based, fresh, and made daily. They sell products ranging from soaps, bath bombs, facial serums, and more. The Conway store offers all of the products available on the online store as well as a few that are unique to this location.

“We have our three local lines: ‘The Bearclaw’, ‘The Roundabout’, and ‘Toad Suck Daze’,” Bree Issac, general manager of Buff City Soap Conway said. “And then we do have a couple of other things that we kind of decided to carry like lemongrass eucalyptus bath bombs and a couple of really fun kids soap.”

They have a best-sellers section in the store which includes some of the location’s most popular soaps such as ‘Narcissist’, a soap that includes various oils and scented with notes of peaches, raspberries, and patchouli sandalwood and ‘99 problems’. 

Along with the signature products they offer, Buff City Soap allows customers to customize their own products and watch as the makers create in their ‘maker’s station’. 

“Since we do make everything in the store it allows us to customize things right there on the spot,” Issac said. “We can customize body butter for people…bath truffles. If they want to order a custom batch of bath bombs we can do that…It’s a really neat process, and people get to choose whatever they like.”

Buff City Soap’s Conway location has gained steady traffic from the community. Issac notes that its busiest days tend to be Saturday and Sundays. “A lot of people are off from work and they can take more time in the store because we do customize things so they can have the full experience,” Issac said.

The store is still enforcing social distancing guidelines by keeping markers on the floor to ensure customers are 6 feet apart. They also ask that customers wear face masks and ensure that all its employees do as well.

The staff at Buff City Soap encourages people to come to the store in person to get the best experience. “We love new faces. So we’re always welcoming new people in… We love having kids come in and decorate their own bath bombs, it’s a really fun environment,” Issac said.

Buff City Soap’s Conway store is located at 925 Oak St. It is open from 10:00 a.m-7:00pm Monday through Saturday and 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sundays.
