- “Worthy” By Elevation Worship
“Worthy” by Elevation Worship is the best worship song of all time, and there are two reasons why. The first one being emotion. Similar to “What a Beautiful Name,” this song has a slow pace and is led by a female vocalist. My second and final reason is the lyrics in this song are incredibly powerful. So powerful that when I hear this in church, there is not one dry eye in the entire Sanctuary. Every lyric and every verse in this song is simply perfect, and that is why “Worthy” by Elevation Worship holds the top spot in worship music.
- “What a Beautiful Name” By Hillsong Worship
This song could easily be number one on the list, that is how close it is.“What a Beautiful Name” is at the number two spot simply because the song at number one is on another level of worship music. When people think of modern worship music, “What a Beautiful Name” is certainly a song that comes to mind. The one line that comes to mind is “Yours is the name above all names.” The meaning and the power behind that lyric is unmatched, but that is just how the entire song feels. It is truly one of the greatest worship songs of all time.
- “Holy Forever” By Chris Tomlin
This song has one of my favorite choruses in any genre of music: “And the angels cry, Holy. All creation cries, Holy. You are lifted high, Holy. Holy forever.” The chorus of this song is great, but it isn’t my favorite part of the song. The pre-chorus: “Your name is the highest. Your name is the greatest. Your name stands above them all. All thrones and dominions. All powers and positions. Your name stands above them all.” With everything going on in the world, these lyrics are a great reminder that the name of Jesus is more powerful than any other name in history.
- “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)” By Hillsong UNITED
On many lists, “Oceans” is the best worship song of all time, so it would make no sense to leave it off this list. When many people hear this song, they probably think of the song’s famous bridge: “Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders. Let me walk upon the waters, wherever you would call me.” The lyrics, and the emotion of this bridge alone will make “Oceans” go down as one of the greatest worship songs of all time. Hillsong also performed this song in Israel, so that alone gives them bonus points.
- “10,000 Reasons (Bless The Lord)” By Matt Redman
Released by Matt Redman in 2011, “10,000 Reasons (Bless The Lord)” is one of the classic songs on this list. There are so many good worship songs that could make this list, but the memories of going to church with my Grandma and her singing it to me before bed, this song had to make its way onto the list. With the iconic piano introduction, and the chorus that begins with: “Bless the Lord, oh my soul,” this song will forever be remembered as a lyrical masterpiece, and will forever hold a special place in hearts.
