At about 10:40 p.m. Aug. 23, a UCAPD officer was patrolling Bear Village when loud voices and music were heard coming from building 10.
The officer parked, approached the door and prepared to knock when the door swung open without warning.
The person who opened the door said “Wow” loudly.
The officer noticed empty and half-full bottles of alcohol and asked for the resident of the apartment.
Student Alecia Cummings, 20, approached the officer and told him that the apartment was hers and she was throwing a party. A second officer arrived on scene.
The officers told Cummings to pour out the alcohol that was on the counter and in the refrigerator, telling her that possessing alcohol as a minor would be a serious offense.
At first, Cummings agreed. But, while pouring the alcohol out she said, “Ya’ll, this is bullshit.”
An officer proceeded to tell her not to use foul language with him and explained that they were to be respectful towards UCAPD.
Cummings then shouted “Don’t get an attitude with me.”
The officers asked her to step outside with them and said if she continued this behavior, they would arrest her and escort her to jail.
