I am an American soldier. I am a warrior and a team member. I serve the people of the United States and live by army values.
According to its website, The Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) is a program that “provides college students with the opportunity to combine world-class leadership and management training with their other academic studies. Upon successful completion of the program and graduation from college, young men and women become Army lieutenants in either the active Army or the reserve components.”
Being an Army cadet sets higher standards in an individual than any other organization could understand. It is one thing to consider your morals and values to excel into your career, but placing yourself before others in selfless service is admirable. A cadet lives by integrity and honor, two Army values that makes up the warrior ethos.
As cadets prepare themselves to be future leaders in the United States Army, they must remember the overall component of a leader is that a leader will never accept defeat; they will never quit or leave a fallen comrade.
The ROTC website also states the program “strengthens the core cadet, while providing Merit-based scholarships for those who qualify, as well as $600 monthly tax-free stipends. Freshmen cadets receive $300, sophomores $350, juniors $450 and seniors $500.”
Receiving the benefits and rewards of serving your country while furthering your education is the opportunity of a lifetime.
ROTC is a college elective that teaches decision-making in a fast-paced environment while building and managing a team, tools that will enhance the success of an individual in both a military and a civilian workforce.
As an Army officer, you will become a team member while maintaining a leadership position and managing and protecting the livelihood of your soldiers. This opportunity separates you from the rest. You belong to a cause that is greater than your own.
Upon commission into the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant, you will start to learn and gain experience and expertise that will help you make transitions from the military to the civilian world.
Cadets are instilled with integrity, which means doing the right thing even when no one is watching. When you wear the uniform of a soldier, you will draw attention to yourself. The community appreciates and respects you volunteering your life to service and the well-being of America.
The soldier’s creed states, “I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life.”
You are a symbol of honor and selfless service. You are admired by many for your personal courage to destroy the enemies of the United States of America in close combat. Knowing your family is safe is the greatest joy you can have, even if that means making a sacrifice.
The Army instills dicispline in men and women who have different values and cultures. The opportunity to make a difference in the lives of many, while utilizing teamwork will help complete the mission. I am an American Soldier.
