“The Z-Suite” brings office humor to Tubi, following the story of a New York ad agency with a generationally separated, feuding group of employees.
While Tubi is not a standout as far as streaming services go, “The Z-Suite” is a highlight on the platform.
The series is a drama mixed with comedy that goes through the various dynamics of family, business, and personal challenges in the lifestyle of working.
The first four episodes of the first season introduce the workplace and the origin of the conflict between the Gen X and Gen Z workers.
The opening of the show starts with Monica Mark (Lauren Graham), the head of the Atelier ad agency, and her close friend Doug Garcia (Nico Santos), as they deal with the backlash of the slogan “All Vibes Matter.”
The agency decides to replace Monica and Doug with Gen Z Kriska Thompson (Madison Shamoun), who works as the social media manager.
The teams from Gen X and Gen Z both have a hard time understanding each other’s perspectives, creating drama and conflict.
“The Z-Suite” shows how difficult it can be to work across generational differences and explores workplace conflict; however, the show balances this conflict with humor.
Much of the humor that takes place in the show comes from the older adults and younger adults arguing about various projects and concepts.
Monica has a hard time understanding the ideas and concepts from the younger generation while her Gen Z coworkers think her ideas are old and boring.
Having a work-life balance is the most important thing for Monica in the series as she tries her best to have a good work ethic.
Despite the feelings that Monica has towards Gen Z, she has no choice but to hear them out on ideas and suggestions.
Supervisor Minnesota Matt (Evan Marsh) also tries hard to fit in with the younger group, which does not go well.
Alongside capturing the workplace experience, “The Z-Suite” also captures other aspects of Gen Z’s struggle such as affording various things and enduring awkward and embarrassing social interactions.
“The Z-Suite” also showcased impressive performances from the cast, displaying their commitment to real-life situations in the workplace and turning them into a comedic point of view.
Most of the casting in the series are well-known veterans in the industry with up-and-coming talents.
The casting also has good diversity by including people from many different races and genders.
While it is rare to find realistic acting from TV shows and movies on Tubi, Graham gives a great performance in the first few episodes.
Graham, whose role as Lorelai in “Gilmore Girls” makes her no stranger to the genre, shows her comedy chops further in “The Z-Suite.”
Graham also has great chemistry with her co-star Santos.
“The Z-Suite” is a worthwhile watch for anyone interested in a show that takes place in a workplace setting and has some funny moments like the hit show “The Office.”
The series is currently streaming on Tubi for free.
