I have not always been an avid watcher of “Dancing With The Stars.” When I was younger, my family would watch it together, sitting on the living room floor. But now, after who knows how many years, I have decided to watch this season thanks to its cast.
As someone who grew up watching “Girl Meets World,” I immediately knew that I had to watch this season because of Danielle Fishel — who played Topanga in both “Boy Meets World” and “Girl Meets World.” I am also interested to see Scott Hoying and Robert Irwin participate in this season. These are the stars that initially drew me into watching this season.
“Dancing With The Stars” has just begun its 34th season and its 20th year on air, and with its seemingly stacked cast, it is shaping up to be at least a decent season.
A couple of the stars and their partnered pros are already standing out from the rest: Robert Irwin, Whitney Carson, Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas. These couples have earned their position at the top of the scoreboard — as of Wednesday, September 24th.
In my book, Hilaria Baldwin isn’t a “star,” but she is married to Alex Baldwin, who is. It also does not seem fair to me that she seems to have quite an extensive background in ballroom dancing, having danced in her college years. I know plenty of the stars this season have some dance experience, but I really just don’t like Hilaria, and I am ready to see her leave the show. And it seems that many people might share that sentiment after she landed in the bottom three in week two of the competition.
Speaking of the bottom three, week two was a double elimination week, and we saw Baron Davis and Corey Feldman leave the show tied for 13th place. I was not too upset about Corey leaving after hearing what was allegedly going on behind the scenes with his partner, Jenna Johnson. However, after seeing more of Baron’s personality and just learning more about him in his video segment from the past week, I was saddened to see him go. I really would have loved to see Hilaria go instead.
I’ve seen some discourse online about how influencers are now being included as stars on the show and I think that in our world today, influencers can equate to stars, especially when they give us some pretty decent dances. Alix Earle has delivered some pretty strong dances and is currently in the middle of the pack of 12 stars, tied with Jen Affleck and Lauren Jauregui with a score of 34.
I feel that Lauren Jauregui should be scored higher than she is, she has been doing an amazing job. She has really impressed me with her dances these past two weeks and I always enjoy watching her perform.
Dylan Efron is also a contestant this season. I feel that he and Scott are both struggling a little bit, possibly due to height. There are times when they look a little stiff and awkward but others when they are doing quite well.
Andy Richter is another star, and he has seemingly captured the hearts of the audience. Even though his dances may not be the most dramatic or technically correct, he has made it past the first elimination night, even though he is the eldest competitor this season at 58. Andy has grown to be one of my favorite stars over the past couple of weeks. You can just tell that he puts in effort and it is easy to see how much he enjoys being on the show.
My top three contenders based on weeks one and two would have to be Robert, Danielle, and Whitney. I am very excited to see how this season plays out, and I am ready to see what the stars do for all of the different theme nights.
