“KPop Demon Hunters”
It is not surprising that we will see many Rumis, Zoeys, Miras and even a slew of the Derpy tiger this Halloween. After being released back in August, “K-Pop Demon Hunters” has been a for-front of our minds. According to Variety, it spent 15 straight weeks in Netflix’s top 10 and eight of those at number one. The hype is still not over, because it is being released as a sing along version for a second time in theaters Oct. 31 through Nov. 2 in AMC, Regal and Cinemark along with select theaters according to Tudum by Netflix. With its still growing popularity, “Kpop Demon Hunters” hits number one on most Halloween costume lists.

“Wicked”
Pulling a close second is “Wicked.” After debuting on Broadway in 2003, its popularity grew. With the release of the movie adaptation Nov. 24, 2024, starring Cynthia Erivio and Ariana Grande, it brought people back into The Emerald City. Making $112.5 million domestically and $162.5 million worldwide during opening weekend according to Dateline. Part two, focusing on the second half of the musical, is releasing in theaters Nov. 21, 2025. With this upcoming release, Glinda and Elphaba are topping the charts of costumes once again. The hype is high as we can see on other shows. “Dancing with The Stars” included a “Wicked” Night, complete with songs from both parts and even special messages from Erivio and Grande.

“Hamilton”
Rounding out our third spot on the list is “Hamilton.” Lin Manuel Miranda not only wrote and composed the musical, but also brought the role of Alexander Hamilton to life. With its first performance in January 2015, “Hamilton” brought history to the stage and created a whole new generation of musical lovers. When the professional recording was released during Covid, musical lovers and history buffs alike went crazy. “Hamilton” has popped up as a costume every year since, however with the influx of memes on tiktok this year the number may be higher.

“Wednesday”
“Wednesday” released its second season in two parts, one in August and the other in September, once again influencing costumes and landing it on number four of the list. From its familiarity to its ease, it makes a great costume not only for one but for a group or the whole family. Since the first season’s release in 2022, Halloween has seen a big impact from not only the show but also from previous “Addams Family” media. Morticia and Gomez Addams have long been used as couple costumes but with the newer show it gives a best friend costume idea with Wednesday and Enid Sinclair.

“The Lorax”
Between using the costume for pranks and social experiments, the Lorax has brought people together. There is no question that we will be seeing it come Halloween. Originally released in 2012, “The Lorax” animated-adaptation not only is familiar, but also easy to put together, that is if you can find a bright orange bodysuit. The Lorax costume packs a funny punch, bringing smiles to those who see it. TikTok has brought the Lorax back with popular creators such as ASHBY having cosplays and different videos with the costume.
