The UCA Bears (13-18, ASUN 4-8) were swept by Florida Gulf Coast Eagles (15-14, ASUN 8-4).
The Bears have lost three out of their last four conference series, but this weekend was their first time being swept.
The first game of the series was played April 5, and UCA lost 8-6.
UCA was down as much as 4 in the bottom of the sixth inning without scoring a single run.
The Eagles made the score 4-0 when freshman outfielder Evan Dempsey hit a home run, allowing two of his teammates to make it home.
UCA scored its first run in the top of the seventh when junior infielder Jagger Schattle hit his second home run of the season, making the score 4-1.
Sophomore outfielder Kade Selmdomridge singled through the right side, allowing junior outfielder Preston Curtis and freshman outfielder Zeb Allen to earn two points for the game, 4-3.
UCA took the lead in the seventh with help from junior infielder Bryce Cermenelli, who hit a double, scoring two runs to make the score 5-4.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Eagles answered back to tie the game 5-5 with a single from junior outfielder Harrison Povey.
But UCA responded in the top of the eighth, gaining the lead again from a fly-out RBI from senior infielder Mason King, making the score 6-5.
The Bears allowed three unanswered runs after putting in graduate student Mason Griffin, losing 8-6.
Going into the Bears’ next game, UCA was up 4-0 in the second inning before allowing four unanswered runs, letting the Eagles tie the game 4-4.
In the fourth inning, senior infielder A.J. Mendolia hit his fourth home run, making it 6-4, Bears ahead.
UCA went three innings without allowing a run until the bottom of the seventh when Eagles freshman infielder Javier Gorostola doubled to left field, 6-6.
Then, Dempsey singled to center field, giving Florida Gulf Coast the lead, 7-6.
In the final game, Cermenelli got it started in the first after flying out, forcing Mendolia to tag, putting the Bears on the board.
In the second inning, UCA made the score 2-0 when junior catcher Casey Shipley hit his fourth home run.
After the short run, the Bears allowed three straight runs in the third inning; Eagles senior Robert Moya singled to right field. Then redshirt junior infielder Jacob Lojewski hit his sixth home run to make it 3-2 FGC.
The Bears and Eagles went the last six innings without scoring a run, making the final score 3-2, Eagles ahead.
The Bears will be back at home April 10 to play against the Memphis Tigers (17-17, AAC 5-4), and will play the Kennesaw State Owls (17-13, ASUN 7-5) in Kennesaw, Georgia, on April 12-14.
