With chants and stomps, the homecoming parade, adorned in vibrant purples and brimming with school spirit, floated through campus Oct. 23.
The parade is a highlight in a week of festivities that brings together alumni, students and the community to celebrate school spirit and cheer on the homecoming court.
Alyssa Nolan, a senior biology major, said, “It’s the best place to be. I would also encourage students to get out and see what this school offers. Homecoming is an important time to do that.”
She said, “One of my favorite things about homecoming is all the alumni returning. I would love it if more students could get out and see what this school means to our alumni and what motivated them to give back, so hopefully we can do the same someday.”
The parade featured floats, cheerleaders and student organizations. Spectators lined the streets to watch the parade float through the heart of UCA.
The parade featured UCA’s mascots Bruce D. Bear and Sugar Bear at the head of the parade, waving to the crowd. Following in tow were UCA’s cheerleaders performing cheers and setting the stage for UCA’s homecoming court.
Nolan said, “I just think homecoming is so much fun. There is no place in the world I love more than UCA. Having this parade and seeing so much purple and everyone come out. I cannot wait for the parade to grow so much more every year.”
The parade featured an array of student organizations, including Delta Zeta with a float decorated with pink and purple balloons and streamers.
Following closely behind were Alpha Sigma Alpha and Sigma Phi Epsilon, which provided onlookers with candy.
Dylan Silverman-Barnes, a senior majoring in dietetics studies, said, “Participating in the parade has been an amazing experience. Seeing everyone dressed their best and being part of the UCA community is truly special.”
