Despite the fast-spreading coronavirus, Conway Daze is set to take place on campus Aug. 17-19.

Conway Daze is a yearly event held during welcome week, for students to further explore what the city of Conway has to offer and what communities are found within the university. 

“We are looking forward to hosting Conway Daze again this year for the incoming class,” the Department of New Student Programs said in an email. “As with many things this year, Conway Daze will look quite different in order to hold it safely for everyone in attendance.”

Although Conway Daze may attract many students, the event will look different this year.

“The event will be separated into three different dates for physical distancing,” Director of New Student Programs Lindsey Shurley said. “The mask requirement will be enforced. Members of our Student Orientation Staff will be at the event reminding students of these requirements as well as lots of signage.”

The event website said “Students will be able to browse booths and pick up information, coupons, discounts and free giveaway items and leave more knowledgeable about Conway and the UCA communities. Face coverings will be required during the entire event. Each table will be set back 6 feet from the sidewalk and only two students will be allowed in a booth at a time.”

The event will be held outside of the Student Center, with each day having a different focus.

From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 17, the event will focus on Campus Departments and Resources. The second day, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., the focus will be set on Businesses and Community Groups. The last day’s focus will be on RSO (Recognized Student Organizations) from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
