On Feb. 10, Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha hosted its Lucky Charms bracelet making event, turning an ordinary weeknight into a vibrant and engaging campus experience.
What began as a simple crafting activity quickly grew into a lively gathering, with over 50 students in attendance and even more arriving as the night continued.
The steady flow of guests were present at the event as SIA hopes to build a strong sense of community across campus.
As students entered the space, they were welcomed by tables filled with an assortment of beads, charms and decorative pieces.
There were countless design options available, ranging from heart shaped charms that aligned perfectly with the Valentine’s season to colorful letter beads that allowed students to personalize their creations with names, initials or meaningful words.
Some charms sparkled with rhinestones, while others reflected hobbies, cultural symbols or pop culture influences.
The wide variety ensured that every bracelet and necklace created that evening was unique.
Music added another layer of energy to the event.
Bad Bunny played throughout the room, creating an upbeat atmosphere that had students singing along and enjoying the moment.
Following his recent Super Bowl performance, the playlist felt especially relevant and exciting.
The music brought an added sense of unity, as many students shared in the same excitement and enthusiasm.
SIA members played a significant role in shaping the welcoming environment that defined the night.
Throughout the event, they walked around the room, checking in with guests, helping with bracelet designs and engaging in conversations.
Their effort to connect with everyone ensured that no one felt isolated.
Whether someone attended with friends or came alone, they were quickly included in the lively and supportive atmosphere.
One student, Adamari, shared her thoughts on the experience.
“I had an amazing time tonight,” she said. “The SIA members made me feel so welcome from the moment I walked in.”
The event also attracted a diverse group of students from different backgrounds and social circles.
Some attendees designed bracelets and necklaces inspired by Valentine’s Day, choosing red, pink and heart themed charms.
Others opted for designs that reflected their personalities, incorporating bold colors, initials or symbols that held personal meaning.
The creativity displayed throughout the room showed how self expression can bring people together while still celebrating individuality.
In addition to crafting supplies, candy was provided for guests, adding a lighthearted and festive touch.
Students enjoyed sweet treats while working on their designs, chatting with friends and meeting new people.
The relaxed yet energetic atmosphere encouraged many to stay longer and continue engaging with those around them.
Michelle, another student in attendance, emphasized how impactful the event was for her and others.
“This event was so engaging for everyone here,” she said. “I also felt so welcome, and I will definitely continue going to all the events SIA hosts.”
By the end of the night, dozens of bracelets and necklaces had been crafted, each one representing not only creativity but also connection.
More importantly, the Lucky Charms event demonstrated the importance of student organizations in fostering belonging and engagement on campus.
Through music, conversation and creativity, SIA once again created a space where students could relax, connect and feel genuinely welcomed.
