As students prepared for the winter snowstorm approaching campus, the Student Activities Board provided one last social event by hosting a Lego Party and “Lego Batman Movie” night.
The event, held on campus and scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. – quickly became one of the most anticipated activities of the week – drawing a massive crowd well before the doors even opened.
Nearly 45 minutes before the official start time, a long line of students had already formed outside the Student Center.
Many were eager for the promise of a free Lego kit, while others were simply excited to relax with friends and enjoy a movie night.
The buzz surrounding the event was obvious, as students chatted, laughed and speculated about whether they would be able to secure one of the coveted Lego sets.
While the excitement was high, the demand quickly outpaced the supply.
SAB provided approximately 100 Lego kits, but more than 250 students attended the event. This led to some frustration as not everyone was able to receive a set.
A few students even attempted to skip the line in hopes of getting one before they ran out, adding to the chaos and energy of the night.
Despite this, the overall mood remained positive, and most students took the situation in stride.
Even for those who did not receive a Lego kit, the event still offered plenty to enjoy.
The main attraction of the night, “The Lego Batman Movie,” was played for a packed audience, with every seat in the room filled.
The film’s humor resonated well with the crowd, drawing laughter throughout scenes that poked fun at Batman’s over-the-top confidence, from his refusal to pay taxes to proudly showing off his exaggerated “nine-pack.”
The lighthearted and comedic tone of the movie made it an ideal choice for a stress-free evening during a busy academic week.
Freshman Ethan Johnson shared that his main motivation for coming was the free Lego kits.
“I really just came for the Legos,” Johnson said.
The high attendance demonstrated strong student interest in interactive and low-stress campus programming.
SAB staff and volunteers worked to manage the crowd and ensure that everyone could still enjoy the movie, regardless of whether they received a kit.
By the end of the night, students left smiling, laughing and talking about their favorite moments from the movie.
Even those who missed out on the Lego sets agreed that the event was worth attending.
With a full room, strong engagement and a relaxed atmosphere, the Lego Party and “Lego Batman Movie” night proved to be a memorable and successful campus event, especially during a week filled with classes, stress and winter weather preparations.
