Goggles were needed for more than just water during Kappa Alpha Psi’s Pie a Nupe event.
Set up right outside of the student center on Tuesday, Sept. 21, members found themselves in black trash bags, hair nets and even goggles to try and stay as clean as possible against the shaving cream pies.
The fundraiser, which involved paper plates and shaving cream, brought people from all over.
Before the event started, members of the UCA community lined up with cash and phones in hand to be a part of Pie a Nupe.
“Honestly I don’t think I’m gonna get pied,” Kajuan Pace said, “If I do, I’ve got plenty of strategies.”
For members such as Pace, moving was a strategy they used in order to not be pied.
“Really [I’m] just anticipating, bob and weave. I’m gonna have a pie ready for any revenge I need to take,” sophomore Brenen Bennett said.
Pie a Nupe was not just for the laughs, it meant more to the fraternity.
“It’s a chance for everybody to come out and have a little fun at our expense, and a way for us to raise money for our fundraiser,” Bennett said.
Between flying shaving cream, members of the fraternity laughed with those in the line along with the other members.
“This is the perfect opportunity for the campus to get involved,” Pace said.
This event was not the only opportunity this week.
Kappa Alpha Psi held a week long of events.
Its first event, Boots and Brushes, marked the first event of the semester being held on Sep 22.
Next was Pie a Nupe with Speed Dating followed that evening.
On Sept 25 they held Pretty Thursday and Shoot your Shot Dodgeball.
They ended the week with the Black Rodeo Experience Trail Ride.
From the beginning to the end of the week, Kappa Alpha Psi brought different things to do for the community on campus.
