With peers, alumni, family and friends cheering in the stands, the homecoming court made its way down the Estes Stadium field during half-time Oct. 26.
Senior Dylan Silverman-Barnes, sponsored by Pi Kappa Alpha, and senior Kiana Wright, sponsored by the National Pan-Hellenic Council and Women of Excellence, were crowned homecoming king and queen during the celebration pausing the football game against the North Alabama Lions.
Seniors Hannah-Grace Fritz and Cam’Ron Medley, both sponsored by Alpha Sigma Tau, were voted princess and prince.
Wright said, “I’m feeling very blessed and honored to be even in this position right now. I just want to thank my organizations for just allowing me to be here.”
Silverman-Barnes said, “The feeling is surreal.”
“I’m just very blessed, very grateful for this opportunity,” he said. “All throughout the week of homecoming — it’s just been a lot of great opportunities and events going on.”
Silverman-Barnes said his favorite part was “just the overall spirit of homecoming week.”
“So many alumni come out, so many organizations come out — it’s just been great to have that school spirit,” he said.
Wright said her favorite part about homecoming was campaigning with her running mate, Demetrius Foreman, sponsored by NPHC and Ebony Models.
“We had a great time,” she said. “We did some great events. We brought a lot of students out and just got them out of their comfort zones.”
Wright is from Dewitt, Arkansas, and is a criminology major. She is involved in her sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha, Women of Excellence and UCA Ambassadors.
She said she chose to attend UCA because she wanted to continue her family legacy.
“What made me choose this school was definitely because of my family,” she said. “My sister went to UCA, and I just wanted to follow after her and my cousin, and just be able to just keep the legacy going and just be able to do more than I came in here with.”
Silverman-Barnes is from Conway, and he is the president of his fraternity Pi Kappa Alpha. He is a dietetics pre-pharmacy major and is also involved in Project X and Green Bear Coalition.
He said, “I think staying close to home and really trying to find opportunities to build my community was the biggest thing, and I’ve been grateful to be able to do that.”
Homecoming Princess Hannah-Grace Fritz is from Benton, Arkansas, and is majoring in biology. Fritz is involved in her sorority Alpha Sigma Tau, the Student Orientation Staff and the Student Government Association.
Homecoming Prince Cam’Ron Medley is from Wheatley, Arkansas, and is majoring in physical education. He is the vice president of recruitment for the Interfraternity Council and is involved in the Student Orientation Staff and Relay for Life.
