• The UCA Sugar Bears volleyball team defeated powerhouse Texas Christian University on their home court in Fort Worth, Texas on Sept. 4.
The Sugar Bears beat the Horned Toads 3-1 in the final match of the TCU Molten Invitational. The Sugar Bears got off to an early lead against the Horned Toads by winning the first two sets 25-21 and 25-19.
The Horned Toads were able to thwart a sweep by the Sugar Bears by rallying back during the third set to pull off a narrow victory of 25-22 over the Sugar Bears. The Horned Toads rally did not last during the fourth and final set, as the Sugar Bears defeated the Horned Toads 25-14 to end the match.
• The Bears women’s soccer team was shutout by the Lipscomb Lady Bisons 1-0 on Sept. 3 in Conway.
The Lady Bisons scored the only goal of the game after Bears sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Gochnauer was lured out of the goal box leaving the goal open.
The Bears played most of the game without senior forward Brittney Warren who was taken out of the game due to an injury during the first half of the game. The Bears had several shot attempts but were not able to make them count.
