UCA’s football team added 21 new players on February 3r, the first day of the NCAA national signing period.
There were 18 freshman added that will arrive in the summer, as well as three mid-year enrollees.
From Arkansas, came Tyler Gee (quarterback), Kylin James (running back), Kam Robinson (wide receiver), Connor Clark (tight end), Dalton Brown (offensive line), Bradley Clark (defensive tackle), James Jordan (safety) and Hayden Schrader (wide receiver/tight end).
Tyler Gee, a mid-year enrollee, was signed as a quarterback, arguably the most important position in football. With UCA’s quarterback nearing the end of his career, it will be interesting to see what Gee will bring to the team.
Gee was a 247 Listed Prospect, a 2019, 2020 7A AAA All-State Selection and is considered to be a mid-major prospect.
The only linebacker signed was Devin Steen from Texas. Along with Darius Hale, (running back), Jalin Moore (wide receiver), Montrell Smith (tight end), Brett Lynch (safety) and Sean Smith (cornerback).
Three players came from Mississippi; Will Tyndall (tight end), Frazier Rose (offensive line) and KeMari “KC” Clark (cornerback) who is a mid-Year enrollee.
Myles Butler (wide receiver) and Barylre “Bear” Davenport (defensive end/bandit) are from Alabama.
Kristian Scott (wide receiver) came from Florida and Jake Golday (defensive dnd/bandit) came from Tennessee.
There were five wide receivers added, four defensive backs, three tight-ends, three defensive lineman, two running backs, two offensive lineman, one linebacker and one quarterback.
The fact that UCA was nationally recognized and had more games shown on ESPN could be an indicator of the large number of highly skilled signees.
The Bears last season was cut short due to COVID-19 issues but they were still able to play nine games. They finished the season with a 5-4 record against a highly-competitive list of opponents.
There’s no doubt that the boys are looking forward to the upcoming season with high hopes and hopefully less restrictions.
The 2021 season schedule has already been announced and the Bears will start their season on Sept.4 when they face Arkansas State.
