UCA fraternity members brought energy, creativity, and charisma to the stage during Sigma Kappa’s annual Greek God pageant Oct. 7.
Representing various sororities and fraternities, contestants competed in themed rounds that showcased their talent, personality and showmanship.
The night kicked off with strut performances from Delta Zeta, Sigma Kappa’s new member class, and Alpha Sigma Tau. Alpha Tau took home the win for their high-energy routine that set the tone for the evening.
Demetrius Foreman, a senior psychology major and member of the Theta Psi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, took home the crown after an “America’s Next Top Model”-inspired performance that had the crowd swooning. Representing Alpha Sigma Tau, Foreman earned the overall talent award and the title of Greek God.
“We came up with Alpha Tau’s Next Top Model to embody confidence,” Foreman said. “I feel very grateful that Alpha Sigma Tau decided to go and sponsor me because they play a big role on campus, and they showed that my leadership and my walk of life on campus is actually making a difference.”
Foreman also stood out during the Formal Question Round, where he was asked to share the best advice he’d ever received.
“Is to always keep going no matter what,” he said. “I got that from my dad, who tragically passed a few years ago, but he told me that because growing up, I was facing diversity, so as I grew up, he always used to tell me, ‘Just keep going.’”
The Greek God pageant featured selected fraternity members, each sponsored by a sorority or fraternity, competing through a series of themed rounds, including talent and introduction. Winners are chosen for each round, along with an overall winner.
Junior Raymond, an exercise science major sponsored by Alpha Sigma Alpha, spun his way into the crowd’s hearts as Spider-Man. Representing Sigma Phi Epsilon, he earned the People’s Choice Award with superhero flair, dynamic choreography and a performance that had the audience cheering from start to finish.
Sage Tradwell of Omega Psi Phi jumped, flipped and danced his way to victory in the introduction round with a high-energy performance inspired by the movie “Jump In!”
Sponsored by Sigma Kappa, Tradwell brought the crowd to its feet with choreography that featured a show-stopping basket toss and a theme that perfectly matched his bold entrance.
The evening at Reynolds Performance Hall blended entertainment and philanthropy, showcasing the creativity and charisma of UCA’s fraternity members alongside a campus-wide commitment to service.
Steven Lee, an accounting major sponsored by Kappa Sigma, won the Formal Question Round with a heartfelt response about community service.
When asked his favorite way to give back, Lee said, “My favorite way to give back to the community is through Kappa Sig’s philanthropy with the Arkansas Veterans Coalition. They’re a local nonprofit that works on bettering the lives of veterans. As a family member of a fallen veteran, I think it’s a very impactful way to give back to our state and community.”
Though the round focused on responses, Lee also performed a number from “The Greatest Showman,” closing with “From Now On” alongside Sigma Kappa backup dancers–a routine that had the crowd clapping along.
All proceeds from the event benefited one of Sigma Kappa’s philanthropies, the Alzheimer’s Association.
In previous years, funds were directed to the Sigma Kappa Foundation, but this year’s proceeds went directly toward advancing research, providing care and support, and advocating for public policy change.
Brynlee Snodgrass, a junior special education major and Sigma Kappa’s vice president of philanthropy and service, said, “The Alzheimer’s Association directs funds toward three main areas: advancing research, providing care and support and advocating for public policy change.”
Though the competition was fierce and the stakes high, the hall echoed with laughter, cheers, and heartfelt moments as Sigma Kappa’s annual Greek God pageant proved once again to be more than just a contest. It was a vibrant celebration of leadership, talent, and community spirit.
