The Torreyson Library opens its doors for all students to participate in Crafty Hour, a weekly activity that features games, crafts and color drawing on Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
This event allows students to take a break from their workload and enjoy some downtime.
The word “crafty” can fall into a broad spectrum of definitions, but in this case, it’s a creative space where students will find card games, Legos, coloring pages, Lite-Brite, yarn arts and other brain-easing activities for a short break.
“This space gives me a break from all the things that are going on in my brain revolving around other things,” Junior Avery Lindsay said.
Lindsay said she finds the Crafty Hour proactive and part of her study routine.
As the semester keeps rolling and students become busier towards the middle of their classes, there are times when they need a break and can have fun for a moment.
The Crafty Hour is the perfect opportunity to step aside from the books and computers the library offers and prioritize a mental break.
Multiple campus activities require time and attention.
However, this is open to all students who feel they need to prioritize their mental well-being.
This can mean anywhere from a few minutes to an entire hour.
Freshman Layla Powell has a different perspective on the impact the Crafty Hour brings to her and the Bear community.
“This space is a good way for students to get their minds off classes and hang out with each other and not think about school,” Powell said.
The Crafty Hour will be held every Tuesday afternoon near Starbucks until December 2nd for all students interested in taking a brain break, seeking some fun, or putting the school load aside.
