Smashed N’ Stacked is known for its unique smash burgers, signature sauce and loaded fries but for owner James Mann, it is a first step to a much larger project.
Smashed N’ Stacked is a food truck located in Pettaway Square at 408 E. 21st St. in Little Rock, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. every Wednesday through Sunday.
Mann has been in the food industry for essentially his entire life and has a drive to help child hunger in Arkansas.
“Arkansas is the third hungriest state in the United States when it comes to child food insecurity and 86% of kids that are enrolled in public schools only get proper nutrition when it’s provided by the public school,” Mann said.
“The end goal is that I want to create greenhouse centers, partner with public schools and help them grow their agricultural department and create sustainable food sources.”
Mann hopes to then put food trucks in rural areas throughout the state and partner with students, allowing them to learn how to run and operate their own businesses and be able to give out scholarships.
In the meantime, Smashed N’ Stacked is heating the block at Pettaway Square with their smash burgers and loaded fries. Smashed N’ Stacked offers five signature burgers, including The Original Smashed N’ Stacked, The Classic American Stacked, The Ooey Gooey Stacked, The Steakhouse Stacked and The OH. MY. Cheesus Stacked.
Customers can also build their own burgers and customize their fries with sauce, cheddar cheese, bacon bits or jalapeños.
Mann says their most popular burger is the Original Smashed N’ Stacked, offered classic or spicy with bacon smashed patties, cheese blend and their signature sauce.
However, for Mann, his personal favorite is the Ooey Gooey Stacked, which features pepper jack cheese, bacon, peanut butter, jalapeño jelly and lettuce.
Smashed N’ Stacked tends to stay at their home in Pettaway Square but also travels for events around the state. They were a part of the Main Street Food Truck Festival this year and several other smaller community events.
The community inspires those at Smashed N’ Stacked to keep going.
“The blessings that we have from our customers that come and support us as a business gives us an opportunity to help our community,” Mann said.
With the support of the community, Smashed N’ Stacked has been able to make donations to the Arkansas Food Bank and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
The restaurant gave out over 500 meals to volunteers and those affected by the tornadoes that hit Little Rock in March 2023.
