1. Spring cleaning
Spring is the in-between season where things are changing and nothing is quite settled. If you are home for spring break, spring cleaning is the perfect way to take the time to refresh, reset and rejuvenate your space. If the plants are in full bloom, you should be too and the easiest way to do that is to have a clean home. Clean out your closet and donate your clothes to a local thrift store, dust the top shelves that you forget about, get out the mop that’s been sitting in the corner for too long and bring life back to your space.
2. Trying a new creative project
No vacation, no problem; lighten up your spring by taking the time to embrace your inner child and creative side. Whether it’s scrapbooking, photography, paper mâché or your special niche, spring is a time to lean into new inspirations. When we get bogged down with the chaos and all-consuming endeavors of winter we sometimes lose sight of the things in life that are joyful and full of light. Use your time at home to do creative projects you’ve been putting off and let yourself feel inspired.
3. Soak up the sun
With Sheryl Crow’s 2002 hit, “Soak up the sun,” playing in the background, enjoy the bliss of sunshine. Whether it’s going on a walk, laying in a hammock, enjoying a hike or just being outside: take the quiet time at home to truly soak up the sun and appreciate springtime. Explore new places in or near your town that embrace the fun of spring by looking for a new way to be outside, maybe a secret trail you’ve never been to. You don’t have to go somewhere fancy to find happy ways to spend time in the much needed sun.
4. Take a yoga class
While spring break is sometimes used to take flights and be on the go, if you’re at home you can use this time to focus on yourself and slow down. Yoga is one of the best ways to create a mind-body connection that creates restorative movement and prepares you for the possibility of new things. Slow your mind down from all the craziness of life and breathe deeper. Yoga restores and refreshes your mind so you can start this springtime season off to a satisfying start.
5. Take a day trip
If you are hungry for a new adventure but have no current plans, take a day trip and find new things to fall in love with and explore the possibilities of your surroundings. We get stuck in our mundane routines like eating at the same restaurants, going to the same stores or seeing the same people. Taking the day off to explore places you’ve passed by but have never been to will open up your horizons to new experiences. You don’t need a moonlit beach or pit tickets to a concert to have a meaningful break.
