Demure Coffee opened its doors for Pages and Ink to host a fun and hands-on Galentine’s craft night where friends could gather in creativity.
This themed evening on Feb. 13 was bursting with Valentine’s Day decorations and focused on the message that being loved means being seen, encouraging attendees to make something fun and to meet new people while celebrating love in different forms.
Event organizer Alexis Sims said Valentine’s Day goes beyond any relationship status and highlights friendship as well as girlhood.
“This event is a fun way to celebrate sisterhood by getting to know people. It’s important to celebrate when we get to gather and do something fun like crafts,” Sims said.
“Bringing this space to the Conway community is special and fun, and it helps create connection through things we have in common.”
Some attendees said they were looking for a break from their normal routine and chose to spend the evening crafting with friends.
Nicole Clark said the event added something special to her Friday night.
“I am always on the lookout for Conway community events, especially around important dates. I was excited for a Galentine’s event because it’s a great opportunity to have fun with my friends and try different workshops like candle-making and charm necklaces,” Clark said. “At first, I didn’t know what to expect, but the space is beautiful, and I am having a great time.”
Participants had different activities to experience between craft stations, talked with new people and shared supplies, which helped create an easygoing, social environment.
Attendees also participated in workshops on candle-pouring and charm necklace design.
They were able to use their time at this event to socialize, relax, grab a drink and enjoy the workshops.
This event encouraged craftsmanship and creativity through the connection that coffee brings.
Organizer Madison Evans said craft-centered events make socializing easier, even for those who attended alone.
“In these workshops, girls come together because we share interests. We like to craft, we like to build, we like to DIY,” Evans said. “Giving people the chance to create something with their hands is the best icebreaker.”
Evans said Demure Coffee was a perfect fit for the event and helped create a special atmosphere for the night.
“Demure Coffee is a place that keeps growing and impacting the community. It’s fabulous and it just fits the vibe for a perfect night for the girls,” Evans said.
Both event organizers said they hope the event is one of many gatherings for the community and that they will continue to provide workshops and activities to center creativity in the city of Conway.
“When people leave with something they made and a few new connections, that’s a win for us,” Evans said.
