Vintage fashion lovers flocked to The Bernice Garden’s Vintage Market to support small businesses and indulge in a day of stylish shopping.
Saturday, Feb. 8, shoppers browsed through stalls filled with unique retro finds, from classic 2000s clothes to unique crystals and flower bouquets. Vendors showed off their collections, offering a variety of vintage treasures.
Hayden Kelly, from Little Rock, represented Marché Farms and promoted the farm at the Saturday shop, offering free seeds, bouquets and jars.
“I really like it when people give flowers; they’re always in such a good mood,” Kelly said.
This was the first vintage market of 2025 that The Bernice Garden hosted in downtown Little Rock.
From May through August, the farm hosts a weekly event every Monday. This event allows people to visit the shop, assist in planting and caring for flowers, and purchase a variety of flowers from their selection.
“I appreciate working in the land and learning more about our environment and how we can help build soils,” Kelly said.
While vintage clothing was the highlight of the event, vendors selling books, keepsakes and crystals also participated, promoting their small businesses and making connections.
Darby Bright, from Little Rock, launched her business, Bright and Bone, two years ago and has been attending vintage market events ever since.
“I love seeing what people gravitate towards, what calls them in,” Bright said. “It’s interesting to see the different levels of crystal knowledge.”
Bright and Bone is just one of the many careers Bright has pursued. She has appeared in a few small films and played a role in the TV series “Mob City.”
“It’s just really fun to help people cultivate different energies,” Bright said. “If they want mental clarity or protection, they can find that here.”
As the day unfolded, the market buzzed with energy. The unusually warm weather drew out families and pets, enhancing the sense of community and adding to the lively atmosphere.
One vendor from Little Rock, Suzanne Shivers, sold brooches that she collected.
“I liked them so much I thought I should sell them,” she said.
With antique brooches spanning various eras, Shivers offered a delightful array of vintage pieces that caught the eyes of many enthusiasts.
The event not only highlighted the creativity and dedication of small business owners but also reinforced the importance of supporting local enterprises in fostering a vibrant and connected community.
“I like seeing all the different people,” Shivers said.
Shivers acknowledged each buyer by sparking conversations that would leave a lasting impression to engage in the community aspect of the market.
Although the event ended at 4:30 p.m., the market maintained its lively ambiance as chatter filled the air while vendors packed up their items.
The Bernice Garden’s Vintage Market has established itself as a cherished community event that brought the Little Rock community together and celebrated the charm of vintage fashion and local entrepreneurship.
