The Conway Community Center brought splish and splash fun this summer when it opened, offering everything from pickleball and volleyball indoor courts to a cafe and even indoor swimming facilities.
Hanging out outside at the facility’s exciting outdoor water park, enjoying a full concession and cafe menu, or getting a full-time membership there is so much to do and take advantage of at The Conway Community Center.
After two months, they are still adding more for the community to do.
The newest addition to the community center is water aerobics – where they hold classes in their indoor swimming pool for people of all ages.
Water aerobics classes are held on Tuesday and Thursdays every week.
“We will have more classes here in the near future. We have aqua zumba, which is on Monday. On Tuesdays and Thursdays we have aqua motion and then aqua fit on Wednesday evening,” Michael Washington, aquatics manager said.
Washington said that water aerobics is a great work out.
Washington said water aerobics have the ability to raise your heart rate with low impact.
“I have had a meniscus tear and my doctor recommended water therapy for me. I thought this would be a great place to exercise,” Denisce Warren, water aerobics member said.
Warren not only joined the class to exercise her body, but also her mind and according to her, Washington brought a lot to the class.
“It exceeded my expectations. It was great and our instructor was wonderful,” Warren said, “He was very energetic and he played great music.”
Water aerobics are not just for seniors according to Washington. He said it is for all ages and recommends everyone to try.
“I would encourage everyone to give it a shot,” Warren said.
To join the water aerobic classes you can visit online to sign up or you can visit the community center in person at 250 Central Landing Blvd.
“The classes come with if you pay for a day pass, or if you pay for a membership,” Washington said.
Water aerobics is not the only new thing being brought to the community center.
Washington said the center will start offering swim lessons for all ages.
“We actually have swim lessons here that will start October 7 starting at age four all the way up,” Washington said.
Not only is exercise an aspect of The Conway Community Center, but also building encouragement and creating a fun space where people can get involved.
